What You Do in Songs of Glimmerwick

You are a new student at Glimmerwick's university of magic, where playing music is how you cast spells. Here is everything the developer has confirmed about what you do day to day.

Every song is a spell

You carry a flute and a songbook. Ancient songs are your magic: the store page mentions using music to speak with the trees, enchant tools so they work by themselves, and raise the earth to get past natural obstacles. Songs also help you reach new corners of the island.

The university garden

Gardening is a core loop — "plant the mundane, grow the arcane." You can even summon clouds to bring rain to your crops. We will publish a full crop list with seasons once the game is out.

Classes, clubs and friends

• Attend classes at the university and join after-school clubs.
• Make friends with classmates, staff, townsfolk and spritely creatures — each has their own story.
• Story-driven RPG quests focus on individual characters.
• Every character, major and minor, is fully voiced.

A full year of seasons

The game follows a year in Glimmerwick with changing seasons, bustling festivals, local rumours and the odd curse. A festival calendar is on our launch list.

Skills and progression

As you gain experience you choose skills that help with gardening, trading, or grant special abilities — the developer's example is talking to frogs.

A lively cast

The developer says Glimmerwick has over 100 unique characters. Many follow daily schedules and some even change outfits. Places mentioned so far include the Swish and Stitch tailor shop, the potions classroom and the music classroom with its practice rooms.
